There are (sub)cultures where all that matters is where you come from, what you do and what your status is. With skateboarding all of that falls away–your social class, your job, the part of town you’re from–the only thing that matters is if you have enough lust for life and skateboarding to get back up and try and ride those stairs again for the 18th time.
I guess that’s the thing that connects us, skateboarders–lust for…well, life. These are the people that we maybe met years ago at a skate competition, haven’t seen in ages and yet they feel like old friends when we reunite for a session after years (and countries) away. These are the people that continue to throw us out of the nest to keep us on our toes and alive but at the same time help us grow and expand in dimensions we never thought we could.
To skate, to connect, to pick each other up when things get tough but at the same time take everything with a grain of salt and a smile on our faces, that’s what this is all about.
