Legends of La Grave: Past & Present – Behind the Line Season 7 Episode 8
In 2001 Doug Coombs and legendary local Ptor Spricenieks were some of the first people to ski the “Ice Line” in La Grave, France. Now thirteen years later, inspired by their heroes, Johnny Collinson, Ian McIntosh, & their guide Joey Vallone look to repeat this rarely skied descent.
Ptor recently reflected on his experience with Doug in 2001, “I’m pretty sure it started with a conversation by radio. Doug and I were neighbors but we never used the phone. None the less, the time for ‘that’ line on the Glacier de la Meije was at hand…something we’d been looking at and scheming about together. As usual when that magic of timing and mutual inspiration come together, the mission is effortless. Too bad we were too busy flowing along to take pictures. The memories however, are super burned into my being. I remember how awed we both were to be in the middle of such a run. Despite Doug’s casual attitude towards things, he was the most awed that I had ever seen that day. ‘Full meal deal’ I think was his superlative. Thanks Doug.”
ANTTI AUTTI FULL PART 2015
¨ We are all products of our environment. In Finland it means that snowboarding in the mountains is almost as rare as catching waves in baltic sea. Not too many people do it. When I was growing up all I wanted to do was to learn new tricks but when I began to ride backcountry, I needed to start think differently about my snowboarding. Suddenly it was not only about take off, airtime & landing. Riding in the mountains opened my eyes to what having flow in your riding really means. You can challenge yourself in so many ways while riding steeps mixed with airtime. But what really makes natural terrain riding the best is the fact that you have to live in the moment & be aware of everything that surrounds you.¨ -Antti

The idea was for Xavier and Samuel to use paramotors to access and ride incredible lines, never before ridden in the remote locations of the Atomfjiella region in Svalbard.

Project Phoenix presented by Lukas Joas – a movie about his last season
Here is my own little movie project I was working on this year. It’s been a season with many ups and downs and a year with lots of new experiences. One thing I can definitely say is, that I couldn’t have done this without the help of so many great people around me. Thanks everyone for the support and for pushing me instantly to work so hard on myself as a skier.
