Joffrey Pollet-Villard Breaks World Record

This week in Tignes, France, in conjunction with Rockstar Energy, Giro Snow and Rossignol, 23-year-old Joffrey Pollet-Villard—well known as “Joff” or JPV—set a new world record for highest air in a superpipe on skis, launching 8.04 meters (26 ft, 3 in) above the deck of a pristinely cut, 22-foot superpipe. The world record was previously held by Peter Olenick of Carbondale, CO; Olenick set a record of 7.58 meters (24 ft, 11 in) on January 31, 2010, during the first-ever X Games High Air contest in Aspen, CO.Joffrey Pollet-Villard

Whether Sage is super gripped at the top of a gnarly line or in a pile of avy debris at the bottom of one, he somehow manages to stay “100%.” After sending a huge mandatory air at the bottom of Cathedral, Sage gets tomahawked and soon taken over by his slough. We’re not sure how, but he somehow manages to come out of it completely unscathed and “100% okay.”

Prime Time – McRae Williams

Last fall, instead of waiting around for the snow to fly in the states, McRae packed up and headed to Austria with the US Freeskiing team to prepare for the season ahead. Just one hour from the beautiful city of Innsbruck lies the Stubai Glacier, host of the Prime Park Sessions and the biggest jumps in the world that time of year. It is here that McRae would spend the next two weeks getting comfortable in the air again, and possibly learning a trick or two. The mountains were absolutely incredible, with tall jagged peaks towering about steep narrow valleys, definitely a sight to see.
