Hawaii is called a home away from home by a lot of people. But to others, it’s just called home. SURFING spent a few weeks with the latter group last December. The Rothman, Moniz and Jones families all welcomed us into their, well, homes for a little while. They told us stories. They took us surfing. They gave us a sample of how they live, and they let us ask questions. The result? A magazine, and this Home Away From Home edit. And of course, it’s not just a lifestyle edit. Because home simply doesn’t feel like home until you’re under the lip at Pipe.
